THE EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
The Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation (LAPAS) has been working on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since 2014 when the stakeholder involvement in the post-2015 process took place. Since then the continuous work by LAPAS with diverse staleholders from private, government, municipal, academic and NGO sector has led to the establishment of the national multistakeholder coalition on SDGs in October 2019. LAPAS is also actively involved in the regional and global UN SDGs processes and other coordination mechanisms. The lecture will focus on the success story of Latvia on drafting the Voluntary National Review on the implementation of SDGs for UN HLPF, specific challenges at the national and sectorial level, will showcase awareness raising approaches and give insight how every organisation and person can be the change agent for more sustainable world.
Speaker Inese Vaivare is director of the Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation. She is also council member of Forus - global network of national NGO platforms, and council member of “Civic Alliance Latvia” - national NGO coalition. Inese’s professional experience is 12 years in public administration drafting policy documents and legal acts on such issues as public administration reforms, public service systems, quality management and citizen engagement.
For the last 7 years she leads one of the most recognized national level organisations -Latvian Platform for Development Cooperation LAPAS. She also works as a guest lecturer on strategy development course in Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, trains and consults NGOs, public administration, local governments and private sector on strategy development, enabling civic participation and sustainable development.
