About

Four organizations in three countries will contribute to startups over the next two years by creating new solutions for sustainable development, emissions reduction and new services for the aging generation.

The project participants will get the unique opportunity to develop and validated their entrepreneurial ideas but also grow their networks and find potential partners from other startups as well as established companies who are ready to share their knowledge and experience to facilitate development of new businesses.

Organizers

Haaga-Helia University, Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol, Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and Mektory have launched a joint project NOCCA (Novel Opportunities for New Company Creation and Accelerated Growth) that will be a unique project with great potential. The three country support units will help to develop an effective work plan for entering foreign markets and ensure the growth. Over two years, the rapid growth of up to 30 startups in the green, blue, and silver economies will be supported.

Approach

The NOCCA consists of three consecutive hackathons and an idea camp where students from participating countries and organizations mingle to create cross-border businesses and innovative ecosystems.

During the NOCCA project

• 6 hackathons will be conducted with ecosystem partners;
• specific action plan for ecosystem involvement will be developed;
• the project will bring together 850 students with entrepreneurial ideas in Estonia, Latvia and Finland;
• 6 new cross-border companies with global potential will be created and supported for growth;
• support for 15 existing early stage startups will be provided;
• 6 joint demo days will be organized;

Project Period

The project runs from 1 April 2019 to 30 June 2021 and is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (Central Baltic Interreg Program 2014-2020).
