Sanita Vība (Class of 2003)
Jānis Vība (Class of 2006)

Jānis was determined to catch Sanita! When Sanita moved from the countryside to Riga, Jānis followed. Sanita attended Riga State Gymnasium No. 1, and Jānis followed. Sanita graduated from SSE Riga, and Jānis followed again! They finally crossed paths at work, where they both ended up in the same company. We will always be grateful to SSE Riga for the education that brought them together in the workplace where their story began.

Though Jānis and Sanita were never in the same classes or studied together, they always returned to the annual SSE Riga Homecoming events as a pair. To this day, they stay connected with their SSE Riga coursemates, keeping in touch through a shared group chat with mutual friends.

While they’d love to see everyone more often, life’s priorities have shifted as many of their friends now have families of their own.

Oto Davidovs (Class of 2016)

Our story might sound familiar to some, but it has its own unique twist. Even though we both graduated from SSE Riga – we didn’t cross paths during our studies. Despite having a lot of mutual friends, we never spoke to each other until the SSE Riga Alumni Forum in 2016. It was love at first sight (at least, according to Oto!). The next day we met at the homecoming party, had a blast and ended up at Lulu Pizza on Blaumaņa Street. Some say pizza is the way to the heart, and in our case, it definitely helped!

Fast forward to today, and many shared meals later, and we’ve been happily married for four years. What makes our story even more special is that many of our closest friends are also couples from SSE Riga who are now growing into beautiful families.

While we do have plenty of friends outside of university, there’s something special about being around people who’ve shared the same experiences and “tribe” that makes these friendships unique, and we are grateful to have met fantastic people along the way.

SSE Riga didn’t just give us an education—it gave us lifelong friendships and, most importantly, each other. And honestly, that’s something we never expected when we first stepped through our university doors!

SSE Riga became the foundation for the rest of our lives. It gave us not only a solid education but also lifelong friendships and, most importantly, a partnership for life.

The long nights of studying together were not only about books and assignments but also moments where inspiration struck unexpectedly. Some of our best ideas came to life during those overnight study sessions. But we always made sure to balance it with fun—after all, “Study hard, party hard” was a motto we lived by!

In our first year, we quickly bonded with classmates, supporting one another through challenges and sharing countless open conversations. Those friendships turned into a reliable network that has remained strong even today. It’s a bond that’s stood the test of time.

Our story started in the Soros Auditorium. We met as friends, but there was an undeniable connection—like magnets pulling us closer. We shared energy, dreams, and countless memories. We danced through life together, from our first kiss at SSE Riga to the day we got engaged on the very same campus. It’s where we began our journey as soulmates, and now, as a happy family of four, it remains a place filled with special memories.

The lesson we pass on to our kids? Embrace every opportunity that comes your way! You never know how a simple decision might shape your life forever.
