Public Lecture: The link between corruption and the war in Ukraine

SSE Riga Bachelor programme students are offered an elective course titled “Understanding and Preventing Corruption”. On April 27, within this elective course, Inese Tauriņa will be speaking about a topic that might be of interest to the broader audience therefore we have made the lecture open to the public. The lecture will take place on-site and we invite everyone interested in the topic to join. No prior registration is required.

Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. What does this mean? How do we see this in politics, business, and mutual relations? How corruption and dirty money is a national security risk, also in the frame of the war in Ukraine? What can we do to fight corruption and promote transparency? Everyone will be able to contribute to the discussion.

Inese Tauriņa is a Director of Transparency International Latvia/ Delna and a Manager of Alliance Against Corruption in Latvia (Delna’s project). Former Board Member of Delna. She has been a member of the organization for more than 10 years. Inese has been active in various non-governmental organizations for more than 20 years.

Inese holds Master's degree in European Union Studies from Leiden University, the Netherlands and Master's degree in Communications and Information Sciences from Rīga Stradiņš University.
