Presentation of the study "Trust – the Nordic Gold"

It is often said that mutual trust benefits everyone – yourself, your friends, your business. But where do we find the magic key that opens people’s hearts and minds?... How do we pare down the multi-layered notion of trust into its components? What is the basis of the traditionally high level of trust in the Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden? And what should be done here in Latvia?

The report “Trust – the Nordic Gold”, recently published by the Nordic Council of Ministers, concerns trust or, more specifically, social trust. The Nordic region is regarded as a world leader when it comes to social trust among its population. The extensive research literature in the field suggests that a high level of social trust is perhaps the most important resource for a society in both economic and other terms. Consequently, as the title of the report implies, trust can be regarded as a type of gold for the Nordic countries.

The presentation will be followed by a discussion and a Q&A session.
