Placement Survey of the Class of 2024: Graduates report strong employment outcomes and high job satisfaction
A recent survey of SSE Riga Bachelor programme graduates from the Class of 2024, conducted just five months after graduation, revealed impressive employment outcomes and overall satisfaction with their career paths. With a response rate of 92%, the survey highlighted key trends in job placements, salary expectations, and the perceived value of their education.
Employment Insights: A Strong Start for Graduates
90% of graduates are employed within five months after graduation, while the remaining 10% pursue further studies, take time off for travel, or engage in personal projects.
Most respondents (62%) are currently employed in Latvia, with smaller groups in Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden and other countries. Regarding job search timing, 44% of graduates secured their positions six months before graduation, showcasing a proactive approach to career planning. Additionally, 23% found their current employment through internships, emphasizing the importance of practical experience in landing desirable positions.
The top sectors for SSE Riga Class of 2024 graduates are Banking & Finance (36%) and Audit & Consulting (33%), accounting for more than half of the employed respondents. IT and Marketing are also notable fields, although on a smaller scale.
Regarding departmental distribution, the largest group of respondents are working in the Finance/Economics department (52%). This is followed by Marketing/Communications (13%) and Sales (8%).
Education's Impact on Career Trajectory
SSE Riga's reputation and rigorous Bachelor programme curriculum are credited by 65% of graduates as an important factor in enhancing employability. Economics, Finance and Data Analytics courses were particularly noted for their significant contribution to career readiness. The alumni network also plays a crucial role, providing ongoing support and valuable connections for graduates navigating their professional journey.
According to graduates, the most in-demand workplace skills are adaptability, critical thinking, and learning skills.
Job Satisfaction and Salaries: A Positive Outlook
A significant 82% of graduates reported being satisfied or very satisfied with their jobs and careers. Regarding salary, 77% of respondents earn EUR 1501 or more, with the largest group (35%) earning over EUR 2100, reflecting the high earning potential for SSE Riga graduates in various industries just a few months after graduation.
Future Plans and Recommendations for Prospective Students
Looking ahead, the majority of graduates are pursuing full-time employment, while others are considering graduate studies abroad or part-time opportunities. Alumni strongly recommend prospective students take advantage of extracurricular activities to complement their studies and focus on personal growth alongside academics.
The survey's findings underline the strong career prospects and satisfaction levels of SSE Riga graduates.
