Open Workshop by Dr. Gabriel Linton: Application of qualitative comparative analysis method, entrepreneurial orientation and contingency theory

Gabriel will introduce and provide a basic understanding of Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). It can be argued that QCA is a cutting-edge methodological innovation in social sciences. QCA is a data analysis technique that allows for comparison of cases and can be used for small- and medium-N research designs. Therefore, QCA can be seen as a bridge between quantitative and qualitative research. Gabriel will give concrete examples of how he has designed and published research with QCA. Gabriel will also talk about his dissertation work which includes the topic of entrepreneurial orientation and contingency theory. He will give insights of the PhD process and his best tips for writing a PhD dissertation.

Gabriel Linton works at the School of Business at Örebro University and is connected to the INTERORG marketing research center. Gabriel's research is focused around entrepreneurship, innovation, strategy, and relationships between firms.  In his dissertation (2016) Gabriel focused on entrepreneurial orientation from a contingency theory perspective. He serves as a member of the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Gabriel has published in journals such as Journal of Business Research, R&D Management, European Journal of Innovation Management, Journal of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Journal of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.  Gabriel regularly teaches courses in entrepreneurship, business development and marketing.

Gabriel completed his PhD at Örebro University in 2016 and received both his BBA (2005) and MBA (2008) at Cleveland State University. He also a board member of a firm in the electric utility sector and a firm focusing on sustainability in the hospitality industry. In addition, he has experience from managerial positions in the transport industry.
