Guest lectures by Finland's and Germany's politicians - Nina Vaskunlahti and Peter Altmaier
SSE Riga provides a strong knowledge base to students often accompanied by guest lectures that help understand how this theoretical knowledge applies in the real world.
On March 5th, Nina Vaskunlahti, Under-Secretary of State for External Economic Relations at Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs, visited SSE Riga and delivered a presentation entitled “Trading in an uncertain World”, triggering a discussion on topical issues ranging from protectionism and trade wars to the impact of the Corona virus on the world economy.
Ms. Vaskunlahti was also interviewed by journalist Mike Collier for the SSE Riga podcast “Person of Interest”.
On February 21st, Germany's Economy Minister Peter Altmaier spoke to students about main challenges for the European Union. Altmaier has been a Member of the German Bundestag since 1994.
After the lecture Minister Altmaier signed the guest book in the Rector's office.
Such guest lectures at SSE Riga usually are free and open to all. Guest lectures cover everything from business and finance to foreign policy and current affairs.
