Talis Putnins

We are proud that Tālis Putninš has been recognized for excellence in teaching and research and has been promoted to the highest academic rank – Professor. Since 2010, Tālis Putniņs has taught the Financial Economics courses in our Bachelor and Executive MBA programmes.

"What I love about doing research is discovering new knowledge. And what I love about teaching is passing that knowledge on," says Tālis, who divides his teaching time between SSE Riga and the University of Technology in Sydney.

Tālis Putniņš has a PhD in financial economics from the University of Sydney. His main research interests include financial markets, market microstructure, market manipulation, insider trading, asset pricing, and shadow economies. His research has been published in leading international peer-reviewed journals including the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, the Review of Finance, and Experimental Economics.
