Arnis Sauka is a Professor and the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Business at SSE Riga and a founding member of the IfM Research Fellow Network (Bonn, Germany). He has a Ph.D. from the University of Siegen (Germany) and has been a Visiting Scholar at Jönköping International Business School (Sweden) and University College London (UK).

His research on the shadow economy, tax morale, productivity, competitiveness, social responsibility, company internationalization and entrepreneurship policies has been published in leading international journals.

Arnis Sauka is co-author of the annual SSE Riga Shadow Economy Index for the Baltic Countries (with Profesor Tālis J. Putniņš, since 2009) and the author of the annual FICIL Sentiment Index (in cooperation with the Foreign Investors Council in Latvia, since 2015).

Since October 2023, Arnis Sauka has been the head of the State Competitiveness Council, established by President Edgars Rinkēvičs. The Council develops proposals for strengthening the country's competitiveness in education, science and entrepreneurship.
