Dr Arnis Sauka delivers a lecture for diplomats on the business environment
At the end of September, diplomats in charge of economic matters had their annual training in Riga and in the introductory part of the programme, the participants had an opportunity to attend a lecture by Arnis Sauka, Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Business at SSE Riga.
Dr Sauka was invited to deliver a lecture to diplomats entitled “The way forward to a productive business environment: The case of Latvia”. The lecture covered recent findings from both applied and academic research that Dr Sauka, in cooperation with colleagues, undertakes within the scope of the Centre for Sustainable Business at SSE Riga. This includes research on key success factors on the company level, including strategic decision-making, new market penetration modes and the benefits of sharing wealth with society. In terms of external factors, findings from the annual Shadow Economy Index as well as studies conducted in cooperation with the Foreign Investors’ Council in Latvia, the Partnership of Latvian Construction Entrepreneurs and BASE (Business Against the Shadow Economy) were discussed.
The training session was organised to promote cooperation between diplomats and businesses entering foreign markets and to share successful experience.
The training session brought together more than 40 Latvian diplomats from 33 countries. Morten Hansen, Head of the Economics Department at SSE Riga, delivered a lecture in the same training for diplomats last year.
