About the Speaker

Anders Åslund is a Senior Fellow at Frivärld and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University. Dr. Anders Åslund is a leading specialist in the political economy of Russia, Ukraine, and Eastern Europe. He has served as an economic advisor to the governments of Russia (1991–94) and Ukraine (1994–97), and has held senior positions at the Atlantic Council, the Peterson Institute for International Economics, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Dr. Åslund is the author of 15 books, including Russia’s Crony Capitalism: The Path from Market Economy to Kleptocracy (2019), Ukraine: What Went Wrong and How to Fix It (2015), and How Capitalism Was Built (2013, Cambridge University Press). His work has been translated into twelve languages. He lives in Washington, D.C.
