Conference on the Integration of Ukrainian Displaced People in the Baltics

This conference will bring together policymakers, academics and NGOs from across Europe, all with an interest in the integration of displaced Ukrainians. The afternoon will focus on the key integration area for Latvia - education, addressing both current needs and future challenges.

After introductions and an overview of the situation, there will be two dedicated discussions on general and tertiary education of displaced Ukrainians, followed by a closing session. The event will conclude with dinner.

Setting the scene for Ukraine situation in 2025: Socio-Economic Insights Survey (SEIS) results from the Baltic Countries, UNHCR

13:00-14:00 Panel discussion on general education.
The panel will explore the challenges Ukrainian displaced children and youth face in making the most of general education systems and what can be done to improve pathways for integration, including support to school communities, communication to parents, capacitation of education practitioners with relevant tools. 

14:00-14:30 Coffee and networking

14:30-15:30 Panel on tertiary education.
How displaced Ukrainians are accessing tertiary education and what challenges and opportunities do they encounter in institutions of tertiary education. 

15:30-16:00 Final plenary discussion and closing
