6-day intensive Modern Media Management Course in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia
The Centre for Media Studies at SSE Riga has partnered with the Baltic Center of Investigative Journalism Re:Baltica to proudly offer 6-day intensive Modern Media Management course in all three Baltic countries - Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The course will be run simultaneously in Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn from 1-6 July, 2019.
Experienced managers/editors in both non-profit and traditional independent media outlets in the Baltics are welcome to apply for this grant-based intensive course focused on developing business management skills.
The aim is to improve participants' management, content delivery, audience research skills as well as gain ideas and knowledge on how to make and execute strategic decisions in order to monetize their media businesses. The course is designed to enhance the ability to apply their skills and knowledge to ensure the sustainability and growth of their media enterprises.
MODULES
There are 6 modules in the course covering various topics such as:
- Strategy;
- Leadership;
- Media Monetisation;
- New Audiences;
- Media Innovation;
- Social Media and Brand Marketing.
APPLICATION
Up to 15 participants in each country will be selected to take part in the course and will receive full scholarship. Participants must attend all six full days of training with no exceptions.

LECTURERS
Course is taught by scholars and practitioners with deep collective experience in the news industry and business training. The focus and main goal of the programme is to bring together many of the strands of the business world and apply them to the rapidly changing media sector.
Linor Goralik, Israel
Marketing consultant who specializes in content marketing, digital strategies, media and social marketing. Her customer base includes Philip Morris, Yandex, YDF, SkyEng, MTXC, OCCRP and many other companies and brands worldwide. Linor’s major expertise lies in the field of reshaping and rebooting communicational strategies of well-based brands, inventing marketing strategies and tactics for innovative products and services and bringing new products to the market.
Peter Zashev, Estonia
More than 15 years of experience in executive education as a trainer and program director, Peter also has considerable experience as an international consultant working on projects for the private sector (international business strategy and marketing) and the public sector (international projects with UNCTAD, the EU and GIZ). His cross-cultural skills are enhanced by the fact that he was born in Bulgaria, lived in Russia, works in Finland and lives in Estonia.
Jeremy Lee Caplan, United States
Director of Education for the Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at the City University of New York's Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. Over the past nine years he has led journalism workshops for professionals and students from around the world and worked with more than 130 innovators from 35 countries on media startup ventures ranging from investigative news sites to podcast platforms. He then worked for The Paris Review, Yahoo! Internet Life, and Newsweek. After moving to Time Magazine, he wrote about Google, Apple and Yahoo.
Jakub Parusinski, United Kingdom
Former journalist who has written for New Eastern Europe, the Financial Times and the Economist. In 2013-2014 he served as CEO of the Kyiv Post, Ukraine’s leading English-language publication, during which time it became the first Ukrainian recipient of the University of Missouri Honor Medal for Distinguished Service in Journalism. Jakub holds degrees in Economics from the University of Gdansk and Political Science from the Central European University. Following an MBA at INSEAD, he worked as a consultant with McKinsey in London in 2015-2018 focusing on digital strategy and transformation.
